The tradition of generosity
The spirit of generosity is the foundation of meditation practice and a shared value in all contemplative traditions and world religions. The practice of generosity develops lovingkindness and compassion, deepens awareness of our interconnectedness and encourages living with simplicity.
For millenia, the teachings of the Buddhist way of life have been kept alive through the generosity of lay communities and the monastics they support in Asia. Bart continues this tradition by offering these teachings freely whenever possible. Like many of his colleagues here in contemporary Western society, Bart relies upon the generosity of students for a sustainable income.
How you can help
Bart’s ability to continue deepening his own practice and offering these teachings depends on the support of students. If you would like to offer a contribution, you may do so at the link below. It is traditional to determine for yourself the amount that is right to give.
The practice of generosity invites you to consider, “What value do these teachings have in my life?” Even though it can be a little uncomfortable to make this decision on our own – we are used to goods and services having set fees – this is an important opportunity to reflect on how the practice has impacted our lives. Thank you for your support!
